What does connection mean to you?

The month of March for me was all about connection.

I met new people, shared stories, learned things I didn’t know, had conversations and built relationships.

And it felt like something finally fell into place with my business – that face-to-face human connection is SO important to me.

I’ve worked from home for nearly 9 years now. So, when I went freelance just over 2 years ago I thought I’d have no problem carrying on in my home office by myself.

I love my own space, I get easily distracted with lots of people around, and with virtual networking and events, I can connect with anyone anywhere. Great!

Apart from the more I tried, the more I struggled with virtual networking.

The more I worked alone, the more I struggled without having others around to bounce ideas off.

I missed being with people – in real life.

Because human connection for me is about more than just seeing someone on a screen.

It’s no surprise that despite being more virtually and digitally connected than ever – so many of us feel lonelier and more disconnected than ever.

Human connection is about connecting emotionally and physically. An intrinsic human need. Building trust, feeling seen, exchanging positive energy and feeling a sense of belonging that the virtual world just doesn’t offer alone.

I’m not 100% sure how this is going to feed into my business and writing just yet – watch this space as they say.

But what I do know is that I’ve felt a shift in a very positive direction – my business is evolving – and that’s never a bad thing.
